Bats LOVE bugs. Specifically, they love eating bugs. Insect-eating bats can eat their weight in insects in a single night. Can you?

Bats were built for eating on the fly. If they can't catch food directly in their mouths they can scoop insects into their tail or wing membranes. Basically, they use their bodies like a net. Once they catch food, bats shovel the insect into their mouths. This is why bats seem to fly so eratically. So, no, they're not about to crash. It's intentional!

Bats play an important role in their ecosystem, too. Fruit bats are beneficial for plants. They help spread seeds for new plants and trees. Some bats help pollinate the plants that grow bananas, mangoes, and figs.

But what do bats have to do with people?
